It's been a great start to the summer fishing season. There is plenty of larger bait still around and lots of smaller (fry) bait showing up on all the shallow grass flats from Sarasota to Anna Maria Island. The Tarpon bite has been pretty disappointing over the past couple weeks. Most of the guides that I have been talking too have said its the toughest year for Tarpon in a long time. The Snook bite has been amazing with most trips catching well over 30 fish, with some days well over that. We have manged to get some good size mid 30" Snook over the past couple weeks (Picture 1) (Picture 2), the majority of the Snook we have been catching have been around the mid 20" mark (Picture). The Trout bite have been steady this past month. The Trout that we have been catching are in 3-5 ft of water on or near the bigger grass patches in the middle of large bays. The Redfish are starting to show up more and more but there still is not a whole lot around. The Mangrove Snapper bite will start to pick up over the next couple weeks an they are awesome table fare.
