Anna Maria Island Fishing Charters March 2016 Report

Sorry it's been a while since my last report...

I've been extremely busy trying to get the new T-craft boat on the water along with fishing non-stop. The good news is I finally took delivery of my new boat (see pics). This new boat has more room and provides more comfort features for my clients.

Now let talk about some fishing. The fishing has remained pretty strong except for a late season cold front we had push through the area early last week. The front drop the water temperature around 12 degrees and the bite slowed down for a couple days after the front. Pilchards have started showing up on the grass flats and can be found in abundance around structure  in lower Tampa Bay  The snook bite has been my most productive bite, most days we are catching around 20+ fish a trip. Most of the fish are around spoil islands or bars and the bite seems to be better at the top end of the tide cycle.  The trout bite has been hit or miss, as they are on the move and are not holding to any one area for to long. In the early spring every year we also do pretty well with some great size flounder on the deeper sandy edges and this year has been no exception. The redfish for me has been my biggest challenge. All the redfish I am finding are extremely shallow in clear water making the bite extremely though.
