Pumpkins in the water...
The fall season is upon us, the water temperature is dropping, and the fish are biting. Over the past month we have been doing really good with Redfish aka "Pumpkins". Large schools of fish have allowed us to catch up to 50 Redfish in a 4 hr trip (Picture 1). Some of the Redfish we have been catching are in the 32" and 33" (Picture 2) range but most are around the 25" to 27" range (Picture 3). The Snook bite has been great as well. We have been catching most of the fish on the last part of the outgoing tide and the first part of the incoming tide in deeper areas of the flats where they seem to congregate when the water is low. The Flounder and Trout bite has been good. Most of the time we are catching the Flounder and Trout as by-catch when we are targeting Redfish and Snook. Some of Flounder that we have caught have been near the 20" mark, which is a big Flounder and excellent table fare. On a side note, this will be my last fishing report for 2016 as I start to commercial fish in December and January for Mullet. It's been a awesome year and I can not wait for 2017.
